Xperia 1

While it is billed to arrive the US later in June, Sony mobile earlier today launched the Xperia 1 at an event in China as it had promised. The arrival of the Xperia 1 marked the end of Sony’s XZ series and this device boasts of a super tall cinematic 21:9 4K HDR OLED display, which Sony claims is a first for a mobile device. The display is laced with flagship-tier specifications, and it is Sony‘s hope that this would to an extent help its mobile business.

The Cinematic display lets you watch most films  on Netflix are in a 21:9 aspect ratio, Sony’s own store and Amazon Prime Video without the need for any letterboxing, and where the format isn’t supported, Sony says you’ll still be able to watch it with black bars down the sides of the display.
