Google Chrome for Android has passed the milestone of 5 billion installations within the Play Store, a number that few other applications can boast, always belonging to the Google ecosystem. A few months ago it was in fact touched also to Maps, YouTube, Gmail and Google Search, which reached the same numbers, however, as we know, the counting of installations is never a real benchmark, considering that many of the Google apps – like Chrome – they are pre-installed on many smartphones, without the user having decided to download it voluntarily.
In any case, Chrome is one of the most widely used browsers in the Android environment and continues to be perfected as shown, for example, by the recent update that improved the password management and search function.
For those who want to try the beta versions, in order to preview new features, we remind you that there is also a Chrome Beta version always downloadable from the Play Store.
It is worth to mention that according to recent reports, Google is working to implement the Picture-in-Picture API in Chrome on Android to shows videos played in a window on other apps. The mode is already available for the desktop version and on some applications on Android such as YouTube, VLC Player, Google Play Movies, Google Duo and Google Maps.
The Chromium team is working to bring the functionality to the Chrome browser on Android and the flag is already present in Chrome Canary and can be enabled, but at the moment the functionality is not yet operational.
If you too have contributed to increasing the number of Chrome installations, downloading it and using it as your default browser, let us know in the comments, if you have preferred something else, tell us what other alternatives you have chosen for your mobile web browsing.
