Vivo expands to the UAE with two smartphone launches

VIVO LOGO PHONE

Vivo is currently one of the top Chinese players in the smartphone industry both in China and some big overseas markets like India. The Dongguan-based OEM has spread its wings to several countries across the globe including Russia, Malaysia, and a lot more of Asian countries. However, it is yet to explore a lot of unchartered territory in the continent and it’s doing that slowly but surely. The BBK Electronics subsidiary has now entered the UAE without much fanfare.

The company’s official website started selling the Vivo Y15 on its UAE page and is soon expected to bring another model – the Vivo Y17. Both these handsets are pretty much low-end mid-rangers.

Gizchina News of the week

VIVO

Vivo is currently present in 100 countries across the globe and it recently entered Nepal and Pakistan. The company has been on the forefront of design innovation recently with its pop-up camera system being used by the likes of OPPO, OnePlus Xiaomi and many more brands. The company also pioneered the in-screen optical fingerprint reader that can be seen on many phones in 2019. Many Chinese companies are now looking beyond China’s Great Wall as the market is fully saturated. Xiaomi is also rapidly expanding its presence in other Asian/European countries as is OPPO, in search of more revenue potential. It’s unclear what Vivo’s strategy will be in the UAE as of now, but this is a start.
