After launching Realme Q in China a couple of days ago, the smartphone maker has now officially announced the existence of its first-ever 5G-based device. As of now, there is no information on the moniker of the device so we’re going to call it Realme 5G Phone. Since the beginning of this year, we have seen numerous 5G capable devices from leading brands such as Samsung and Huawei. Well, the budget-focussed Realme is also planning to step its foot into the 5G network market by launching its own 5G-capable device.

Realme 5G Phone to come with Snapdragon 7-series SoC

As per the official announcement, Realme 5G Phone is going to be powered by the new iteration of Qualcomm Snapdragon 7-series chipset. For those who’re unaware, Qualcomm recently revealed its plan of bringing 5G network capability to mid-range and budget processors. This means that we will soon see Snapdragon 6- and 7-series chipsets supporting the latest 5G networks. As of now, this new network capability is only accessible to flagship-focussed smartphones.

The chipset manufacturer has already revealed the brands which will soon be utilising these new 5G-based chipsets. These companies include LG, Motorola, Nokia (HMD Global), Oppo, Xiaomi, Vivo and of course, Realme. Even though almost all the popular budget smartphone brands are in this list, Realme is the first one to officially announce the development. Apart from 5G network support, the device will come with next-gen Qualcomm AI Engine and Qualcomm Elite Gaming features.

Launch Date, Availability

Apart from a few key features, there is no solid information on the upcoming Realme 5G phone. Since Qualcomm is planning to bring this new 6- and 7-series chipsets in 2020, it is safe to say that Realme 5G Phone will see its official unveiling after the Q4 2019. The chipset manufacturer is currently sampling this new SoC to smartphone manufacturers. With that said, more details on the upcoming Realme’s 5G smartphone will definitely come forward in the forms of rumours and leaks.
