Vivo has finally broken the covers for Vivo S7 5G launch in China. The Chinese giant will unveil the smartphone on August 3 in China. The device could take the route of including a bath-tub styled notch similar to Apple’s iPhone X. However, with a relatively smaller cut-out to host a whopping 44MP selfie camera, if leaks are true.
The company took to Weibo to announce the launch date that will happen at 7.30 PM China time on August 3. Along with it, a teaser that showcases the smartphone with a very thin form factor has also appeared. This confirms the earlier reports that indicated that the S7 will be a light-weight selfie-focused flagship smartphone.
A departure from the punch-hole design?
The teaser opens out to a guy searching for something from a stick board and takes out a slightly purple coloured phone from a wrapper at the end. Although the design is not entirely revealed, leaks on Weibo have already showcased the design to host a bath-tub styled wider notch at the front and a squircle matrix-style camera layout on the back.
The leak shows two images, one with a white background and another having a gradient purple. This along with a purple colour in the previous leak suggests it could have three variants in total. Also, reports say that the device could be the lightest phone in China yet.
Vivo S7 5G : This could be it
Regarding the specifications, it is expected to sport a 6.43-inch AMOLED display with an FHD+ resolution. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 765G SoC is expected to replace the Exynos 980 5G on the successor to the older Vivo S6 5G.
As reported earlier, the device will break the trend of selfie cameras with the combo of a huge 44MP Samsung GH1 and an 8MP Hynix Hi846 super wide-angle sensor at the front inside the wider notch. This is a huge upgrade over the 32MP sensor found on S6 5G.
As for the rear, the squircle design will host a 64MP main shooter, 8MP ultra-wide and a 13MP Telephoto lens. Regarding the storage, it is said to sport an 8GB RAM and 128/256GB storage.
Expected Price and availability
All this points to a Vivo S7 5G that looks more of an upgrade from the X30 and previous S6 versions. The device is already up for pre-orders on suning.com and it is expected to be priced at CNY2998. Let’s wait for a few more days to know the official pricing and availability.
