The first-gen Galaxy Fold smartphone made a furor in the smartphone market. Though there have been some issues related to the hinge of the screen and it was postponed a few times, when went on sale, it became a bestseller. Since this date, we knew the second-gen model will be way better. So everyone has been eagerly waiting for it. Just an hour ago, the Samsung Unpacked event was over. And we saw a number of new and incredible products in face of the Note 20 series, Watch 3 smartwatch, Tab S7 line tablets, and of course, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2.
In fact, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 got improvements in all aspects. When looking at the first generation of Samsung’s foldable smartphones, we were thinking these technology and form factor are not mature. But now, when we get our hands on the second-gen model, we understand many people will consider embracing the foldable experience.
The 4.6-inch display is now replaced by a 6.2-inch punch-hole display. It occupies the entire front panel.
On the opposite side, we can find an elegantly-looking camera module, which has three sensors.
However, what makes the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 look so amazing is the 7.7-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2213×1689 pixels and a 120Hz refresh rate. Thus, its diagonal is 0.4 inches longer than that of what we have found on the previous model. But what is more worthy of our attention is the aspect ratio, which is closer to a square. In other words, the bottom side is longer. Well, if putting simply, the screen is 13.5% larger than the older one.
Apart from these changes, the company has removed those ugly bangs. Now, there’s a tiny hole for the camera, which can be used for any purpose from conference calls to taking selfies.
If you still worry about the durability of the screen, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 is proven to come with a stronger display. Plus, it comes with an ultra-thin layer of glass for extra rigidity.
So if summarizing the design improvements, we should say this model looks way more attractive.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 Performance
We are dealing with an embodiment of power and beauty. So it’s expected to see all the latest hardware and software features. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 is powered by the Snapdragon 865+. As you know, it’s the same SND865 with overclocked CPU speed. Plus, it offers better GPU performance. This is a must when driving all those pixels the internal display has.
The SoC is paired with a whopping 12GB LPDDR5 RAM. However, the base storage has been reduced to 256GB. But it is UFS 3.1. So the speed is in place.
Though the battery has become larger, 4500mAh, in daily use, it won’t be noticeable.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 Camera
The camera modules are another reason for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 to boast of. The main camera has a 12MP resolution, but it supports OIS and PDA. Instead, there is a secondary telephoto lens of 64MP resolution. And the ultra-wide-angle sensor has a 12MP resolution.
The selfie camera on the front-side screen has a 10MP resolution
Price and Availability
Unfortunately, we can’t inform you about its pricing, as this is the only model announced today that didn’t get it. But we know, the phone will go on sale on September 1.
