Finally, the iPhone 12 and the iPhone 12 Mini are official. The 12th generation iPhone brings 5G for the first time ever in iPhones. The iPhone 12 keeps a similar 6.1-inch size as the previous gen, iPhone 11, and iPhone XR. However, there is a massive upgrade to the display. Gone is the LCD panel from iPhone 12 and a low-resolution display. Moreover, the iPhone 12 Mini comes with a smaller display size of 5.4-inch. The newer iPhones come with an OLED display with a high resolution. Furthermore, the display has been integrated with up-to 1200 nits, Dolby Vision, HDR 10, and HL. The event took solid time in stating Apple’s best protection ever. iPhone 12 models come with Ceramic Shield for further protection.
Internals Upgraded. Design Is Identical!
Coming to the cameras, the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Mini gets a dual rear camera setup. There is a primary 12-megapixel wide-angle lens together with a 12-megapixel ultra-wide shooter. The main sensor supports f/1.6 aperture, which is the fastest ever in an iPhone. Apple focused on the night and low light photography for iPhone 12. The front camera also gets a Night Mode option. Apple discussed their advancement in cameras with computational photography that has been integrated into the iPhone 12.
Moving forward to the performance, both the devices comes with the A14 Bionic chipset. The chipset was unveiled last month with the new iPad Air. Interestingly, the company didn’t share an improvement percentage with A13 Bionic. The highlight here is the 5nm architecture, making it the first smartphone to have reached this point. Another highlight is the 5G support. Interestingly, all the iPhone 12 models come with 5G.

This is the first time, Apple has used a “Mini” moniker. The Mini might make the smartphone feel low in internals, but it is not the case. Actually, the only big difference between the two is the display size. The iPhone 12 comes with a 6.1-inch display whereas the Mini sports a 5.4-inch display. The Mini is claimed to be the smallest, thinnest, and lightest 5G phone in the world.

The iPhone 12 starts at $799. You can pre-order the device starting this Friday. The smartphone will go on sale starting on October 23rd. The iPhone 12 Mini starts at $699. Although, the device will be available for pre-order from November 6th at 5 AM PT / 8 AM ET. The phone will start shipping from November 13th onwards.
