OnePlus to launch a $40 fitness band in 2021, will compete with Xiaomi

Xiaomi Mi band 4

OnePlus seems to have made some significant changes in its strategies in the smartphone market. The Chinese company has forayed into the budget segment with three devices this year. We have also seen the company launching two new TWS earbuds, out of which one focuses on the affordable side while the second is the company’s top-end offering. It is safe to assume that the brand is now giving more attention to the wearable segment. The new sudden shift makes sense as the wearable market is growing rapidly and OnePlus might want to take the benefit as well. Apart from the OnePlus Watch, the Chinese smartphone maker seems to be working on an affordable fitness band.

OnePlus fitness band might arrive with a $40 price tag!

According to a new report by GSMArena, OnePlus is planning to launch its first-ever fitness tracker in the year 2021. The fitness band will arrive with affordable pricing, $40 to be precise. Through the new wearable, OnePlus is planning to compete with Xiaomi’s Mi Band lineup. It is worth noting that this new development is coming from ‘inside sources’. You might want to take it with a pinch of salt as the company has not teased or confirmed the existence of a fitness band. With that said, it wouldn’t be a surprise if OnePlus ends up launching one. The company is already working on its first smartwatch namely the OnePlus Watch. While we’ve been hearing about it for quite some time now, it is only recently that CEO Pete Lau confirmed it through its official Twitter account.

The report further adds that the fitness tracker might see its official launch somewhere in the month of March 2021. We should see an AMOLED touch panel, multi-day battery life, water-resistance along all the other key features that are already present in the market. Considering how popular the entire Mi Band lineup is, it would be quite interesting to see what OnePlus has in stores for us. OnePlus Band will first launch in the Indian market and will then make its way to other regions. As mentioned earlier, OnePlus is also working on its first smartwatch that will launch in the first half of 2021. We might see it going official alongside the company’s next-gen flagship smartphone offering i.e. OnePlus 9.

With that said, if OnePlus really is working on a fitness tracker, then we should expect to see some more concrete information surfacing on the web. Whenever that will happen, we will make sure to keep our readers updated.
