Ericsson’s CEO: If the ban on Huawei continues, Ericsson will leave Sweden

Ericsson Russia

In terms of 5G development, the process has been a bit complicated because of Huawei. In terms of 5G equipment, there are three major manufacturers – Huawei, Ericsson, and Nokia. Since the ban on Huawei by multiple countries, the playing field has not been level. Nokia and Ericsson obviously have an edge over Huawei not because they are better but because of Huawei’s ban. Ericsson’s CEO has always expressed his displeasure with this situation.

Ericsson's CEO

According to reports from the Swedish “Daily News”, the CEO of Ericsson announced that “If the ban on Huawei still exists, Ericsson will leave Sweden”. It’s really strange to think that Ericsson will leave its home country over Huawei’s ban. Sweden has since banned Huawei from participating in its 5G construction. For Ericsson, it worries that it will also face the same fate in China. Therefore, it has been very vocal about the unfair position that Huawei is in.

Gizchina News of the week

The “Daily News” revealed that Ericsson’s CEO, Börje Ekholm, said in a text message to the Swedish Minister of Commerce, Anna Hallberg, that the company would leave Sweden unless the (Swedish government) lifted its complaint against Huawei and ZTE.

Sweden says it can not lift Huawei’s ban

Holberg’s response reads “The government cannot lift the ban on Huawei, because the Swedish Post and Telecommunications Administration’s interim secretariat made the decision based on the recommendations of the security department and the National Defense Forces”.

For Ericsson’s CEO, he attaches great importance to the Chinese market. He also supports that Huawei and other major players should file a lawsuit against the ban. Public information shows that Ericsson has tried to hire lawyers to help Huawei in litigation (win the lawsuit against the Swedish ban). Börje Ekholm also said, “Although we have talked with several Swedish law firms, no one is willing to help Huawei. There are many cowards here”.

How ignorant of the Communist Party you have to be to think that China will let you sell your little 5G equipment on their local market? First of all wester electronic has a colossal tax. Second of all the last time Canada arrested Huawei executive under valid reason, Chinise government arrested 2 random Canadians and they keep them hostage till this very day. You really think that they will let you sell your stuff and compete with their official Communist party company (Huawei) That is full of backdoors as ks required to be full of them by law by the China Security Office? You seriously have to be such an ignorant of Communist Part culture to even bring this topic.

Huawei is a cooperative and the Chinese government have given some financial help. The value of the help was 0.1% of Huawei' s net income. Even that Huawei did not need as it is the largest electronic manufacturer in the universe. Huawei is owned by its 93,000 workers. It might spy. The purpose of spying is not to be killed by hit squads. Special forces are pretty well trained and Huawei does not want to be killed!
The other big cooperative is mondragon cooperation.

every company which is able to be better than American ones is going to be on their entity list , recently the DJI company added on their entity list and I am sure the XIAOMI will be the next one , so the Americans don't compete in the right way , look at what happened for NOKIA, they put the virus on JAVA which was the OS of NOKIA in that time and put the APPLE company instead of that and after bankruptcy of nokia ,they bought it, so now it is an American company , so they want AMERICAN MONOPOLY ,
every company in the world which is going to be the number one , they will put them on their entity list ,this is the new American technique

it is not fair and it is not the way of competing and they know that the only country that has the potential of being better than Americans is the CHINA

Hey Snowflake, the U.S. should be sanctioned and bombed into oblivion, and annihilated. People are going missing in the U.S., only to be found in mass graves. Hypocritical Western
countries which imposed colonialism and apartheid on African countries should be ashamed for desperately making false claims against China when all that the West has done has been to OPPRESS African countries into perpetual poverty. Hypocritical Western countries being the lapdogs of the U.S. even OPPRESS the vast majority of their own people, killing their own citizens by the hundreds of thousands for the interests if the rich 1%. Shame on the world for condoning U.S. and Western atrocities, crimes against humanity, genocide, ineptitude, incompetence, and corruption.

    Are you serious?

Who are all these missing people and where are all these mass Graves located in the US?

Yes, Western countries are hypocritical, every government is, but let's be honest here, without the US, all of Europe and most likely Africa would be speaking German today. China is making inroads into Africa, taking RMB and ignoring what it will cost down the road. China has never been a colonial power until now. Africa will learn the hard way… AGAIN

  11. Sam Martin
    January 3, 2021

Yes it is a sovereign state. The fact you think it isn't, shows just how dumb your earlier argument is. Samsung is the 2nd largest raw manufacturer of handheld devices in the world, and makes more money than Huawei, if you think that doesn't make them a competitor then you're braindead. And they manage to do so with out being intellectual thieves.

  12. Andy Falcon
    January 3, 2021

You won't be able to do that with disdain alone. I think western powers don't really understand how China operates. We just see the human rights abuses, intellectual property theft, bet on the inevitable failure of a one-party communist system, and totally miss what we should be paying attention to. Western powers are maybe too arrogant to recognize that the Chinese government is HIGHLY effective at managing its resources, human or otherwise, and until we do, China will keep eating our lunch, starting with the Asia-Pacific region where the Shanghai Stock Exchange is displacing the NYSE. It's only because of it's European cultural ties that Australia still sticks to the West, but the pressure is definitely on. Obama's TPP would have slowed down China's economic clout in the region, but likely would not have stopped it. Trump, by cancelling it altogether, did China a huge favor. Same kind of favor Bush did to Iran by taking out Saddam and his army. Short of a major disruptive incident, the Chinese economy at it's current pace of growth, will likely surpass the US economy in my lifetime. The US is currently too mired in political idiocracy and a slowly fading sense of superiority. If the Chinese manage to bypass OFAC and the Patriot act through sheer economic gravitas, the US will have a hard time issuing economic threats to anyone, and the reign of the dollar as a stallion currency will likely fade away. The only thing we'll have left is military power. For a while.

QCOM is already way ahead of competitors including Huawei in baseband chipset business. Huawei mainly competes with Ericsson and Nokia in infrastructure; no US company competes in that space.

    January 4, 2021

US has mlitary bases in 40+ countries, including the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Belgium, Japan, Spain, Turkey to name a few — what's your point?

  15. Jack
    January 4, 2021

Actually China allocated about 40% of their 5G network for Nokia and Ericson. You would think China would favor their own companies Huawei and ZTE that are hurting badly from Western bans or at least have a free market bid where lowest bidder gets awarded the contract. China's kindness is pretty pathetic at times.

  16. shm224
    January 4, 2021

Huawei's strength is in infrastructure network equipments, not in 5G baseband chips where QCOM has solid dominance. Samsung and LG, along with Huawei, are the largest 5G core patents holders in the world. Like I said earlier, no US companies competes in the network equipment business where Huawei had a huge sales lead due to their cheap wares.

Liang Mong-Sang, the former exec at TSMC, is no longer with SMIC and Huawei can't make chips using 7nm or below node processing without EUV. ASML the only maker of EUV machines isn't exporting to China anytime soon. So much wishful thinking.

So the CEO is more concerned with short term corporate profts and access to Chinese markets then his own countries' security? And, he is willing to go so far as to pay for legal representation to help his competition? Maybe it is time to boycott Ericsson. He is calculating the company can make more money competing against Huawei by gaining access to Chinese markets. Does his board and shareholders really believe Ericsson will be allowed into China?

China is a one party Communist State and should be sanctioned into obliteration just like North Korea is period. People r going missing in China, never to be found and the hypocritical African countries especially which fought against colonialism and apartheid should be ashamed that they r willing to look the other way, when they themselves were OPRESSED decades ago in their own countries. Shame on the world for being in cahoots wit Communist China.

No concrete proof about Huawei. The ban is so America can catch-up with 5G technology

  20. shm224
    January 4, 2021

Samsung is the largest electronics manufacturer in the world — in 2019, they grossed about $220B versus Huawei's $120B, or about half that of Samsung. Further, Huawei is not owned by individual 93K workers, they are owned by the CCP that controls the workers's union where all Huawei workers' are required to join. The fact that Huawei was allowed to sell billions of their stolen wares to the West is not what signifies their modus operandi, but it's CCP cloaked in a quasi-private business entity.

So much ignorance and so many unfounded claims. Huawei is known throughout the industry for having the most advanced 5G chip design in the world, more so than QCom. In 5G chip design, Huawei dominates all its competitors. So, obviously you have no idea what you're talking about.

Additionally, the fact that Huawei is by far the largest 5G core patent holder, far more than Samsung and LG combined, is well-known and acknowledged throughout the industry and by anyone who hasn't been living under a rock or hired to spew dumb propaganda for the CIA. Yet, you tried to make it sound like Huawei is behind Samsung in 5G technology by way of your weasel expression, which only exposed your insecure need to passive-aggressively lie. So much desperation from you to lie despite the obvious fact that you're an ignoramus of abysmal intelligence.

  23. Eternalmaster Ofusmedia
    January 4, 2021

Huawei is already way ahead of all competitors not only in core 5G technologies but also far more advanced than QCom in 5G chip design. Huawei also owns by far the most 5G patents. The only thing that Huawei doesn't yet do is manufacturing its own designs. But even that situation is changing because Huawei's first chipset manufacturing plant has just completed construction. Read and weep, CIA goon. ROTFLMAO!

The US already screwed Samsung during Apple vs Samsung trial. It was, of course, it was no surprise that Apple had to settle all lawsuits outside the US where they had zero chance of gaining any legal leverage with their absurd lawsuits.

Toshiba however was a different story — they clearly violated the US export control laws when Japan-US relation was already quite strained. As was Alstom.

I'm not even going to respond to your CCP wu-mao claim that S. Korea is not a sovereign state.

You surely don't know what you talking about QCOM fanboy. They only started recently integrating 5G into their chipsets. They don't innovate. All the ideas they get from customers. Their shitty business model of patents and no chipsets block innovations and improvements as if they QCOM are the only ones who have thought of an idea. Show proof Huawei is spying stop speculating. If it wasn't for ban Huawei would be number 1 fone maker. They can't ban Samsung because Apple need panels and QCOM it's ability to make chipsets. By the way American technology make up only a fraction so all sudden they claim it as theirs

This is hilarious. First, in post WW2, most African countries opted for some sort of Soviet-style command economy or Maosim after their liberation from the Western colonizers. It's likewise no surprise that they were buried in ruin after decades of socialism after another bad decade of oppressive commie dictators. While not all Western-style development succeeded — Ghana, Zimbabwe for instance — Botswana opted for free(r) market economy from the getgo and has been thriving since.

Speaking of massacring your own people, who can forget one of the worst human disasters in the 20th century, the Great Leap Forward, where up to 60M Chinese were starved to death without a single gun shot? All that in the name of sick political ideology and the party elites in Beijing. LOL! You wu-mao too funny.

The so-called "spying" is nothing but empty propaganda without any evidence from the U.S. and its Western lapdogs who feel extremely insecure and jealous about the fact that a Chinese company leads the world in 5G technologies and is the world's largest and most advanced telecom equipment maker. So they always fabricate claims about "spying" and "national security" through their mouthpiece media and online lapdog goons like "shm224" here to always try to downplay and degrade Huawei's leadership position in its industry and its technological superiority while at the same time viciously slander and spread all of their false propaganda against Huawei and everything about China.

Do as I say, not as I do. tsk tsk tsk. And for your last point, yes, QCOM was the only one to think of CDMA and single-handledly pioneered the wireless industry as we know it today.
