Well-known analyst, Kuo Ming-Chi, claims that Apple is developing a foldable iPhone. He pointed this at a recent report to investors. According to him, the company is striving to release this foldable iPhone in 2023. He also reveals that this device comes with an 8-inch QHD+ resolution OLED flexible screen. According to the report, the foldable iPhone will use an exclusive display from Samsung.
Kuo Ming-Chi claims that Apple’s requirement is that the stock will be 1.5 – 2 million units. The new foldable iPhone is expected to use TPK’s nano silver wire touch technology. It appears that this method has more advantages than Samsung’s Y-Octa technology.
In addition, he also said that since 2021, major mobile phone brands will successively launch foldable smartphones to promote the next wave of phone replacements. He also believes that Apple will be the “biggest winner” in this regard. Kuo Ming-Chi predicts that the foldable iPhone will combine a regular iPhone with a tablet. Apple has its own ecological and hardware advantages, which is conducive to gaining advantages for the foldable iPhones.
From previous information, Foxconn was testing two foldable iPhone screen prototypes. This foldable smartphone may also support a stylus.
Will Apple release the iPhone Flip?
According to Jon Prosser, a popular Apple leakster, Apple will use the clamshell design instead of the popular “phone-to-tablet” design.
“[Apple] is leaning heavily in favor of a clamshell [iPhone design],…My sources aren’t exactly sure why, all they know is the clamshell is now having the majority of the attention placed on it behind the scenes… [and] is getting elevated behind the scenes in terms of a production timeline…One of the goals of this clamshell-style foldable iPhone is to offer it in multiple colors, like fun colors, similar to base model iPhones… which tells us who this phone will be marketed towards.”
It appears that the flip design is less expensive than the phone – to – tablet design. From initial speculations, Apple will prefer the iPhone Flip design. There are reports that this is the reason why Apple prefers the chip design. The company wants to test the market acceptance of the foldable iPhone. Prosser claims that the iPhone Flip will arrive in September 2022.
