Redmi Note 8 2021: Here’s a look at chipset, camera, and display details


Xiaomi is all set to refresh its one of the popular budget smartphones dubbed Redmi Note 8. The company is simply calling it Redmi Note 8 2021. By refreshing the device, the Chinese smartphone maker is celebrating the sale of 25 million units of the original device. For the last couple of days, Xiaomi has been teasing and hyping up the device by revealing more information bit by bit. Well, we now have details surrounding the chipset, camera, and display.

Just like the original device, the Redmi Note 8 2021 will feature a waterdrop notch display. The display will measure 6.3-inch diagonally. Under the hood, the company has now added an Helio G85 chipset paired with 4GB RAM and up to 128GB onboard storage. The original offering, on the other hand, features the Snapdragon 665 SoC. On the rear, we’re looking at a quad-camera module featuring a 48MP primary sensor.

There’s no information regarding the remaining three camera sensors. The original device features a quad 48MP+8MP+2MP+2MP sensor. We’re also looking at a fingerprint sensor located on the rear side. On the design front, the 2021 edition of the smartphone looks exactly similar to that of the original offering. The key difference, as per the current information, points towards the addition of a new chipset and a fast 22.5W fast charging. It’s a small bump up from the original device.

It looks like not much is changed!

While there’s no clear information surrounding the resolution and the remaining camera sensors, it looks like there’s not much that is going to change. The 6.3-inch display with a waterdrop notch should have a resolution of 1080p. On the front, there’s a 13MP front snapper housed inside the notch. It looks like the device will arrive in two color options as shown in the image above. We might see more color options getting added to the roster later down the road.

If you look closely in the teaser, you’ll find the SIM card tray located on the left. The power key and volume rockers, on the other hand, are on the opposite side. Like the original device, the chin also contains the ‘Redmi’ branding. From the design point of view, the device seems to follow the exam same ideology as that of the original offering.

With that said, we should expect to hear more information from the company in the coming days.
