Xiaomi is developing the Redmi K50 smartphone series

Xiaomi is developing the Redmi K50, according to insiders. It’s only been four months since the announcement of the Redmi K40; but the company is already working on a successor. It does not hide this, but also decided to ask users what they would like to see in Redmi K50. The corresponding survey is being conducted by the head of Redmi Liu Weibing on his Weibo page.

In their wishes, users spoke in favor of the presence of the new flagship Qualcomm chip, the appearance of a version with 512 GB of memory and want the company to add wireless charging to the new product. There are those who ask to introduce an optical image stabilization system in the camera and offer a good IPS panel, not OLED.

Among the improvements, many cited an increase in the power of fast wired charging. And it is highly likely that this “Wishlist” will be satisfied. At least, the well-known network insider Digital Chat Station assures that the Redmi K50 will expect improvements in specs such as display quality, camera and fast charging.

When the company plans to unveil the Redmi K50, it hasn’t been announced. There is a chance that the device will debut even before the end of this year. Or already at the beginning of 2022. Considering that the Redmi K family has already entered the global market with a different name more than once, one can speculate that the Redmi K50 will go beyond China, for example, like the Poco F4.

Redmi K40 series

A few weeks ago, sales of the first gaming smartphone from Redmi began. It’s the Redmi K40 Enhanced Game Edition, and immediately the company announced record sales. The brand plans to sell more than 1.7 million models of this smartphone this year.

According to the CEO of Xiaomi Group Lu Weibong (Lu Weibong); gaming smartphones were not popular with buyers due to the high price. Redmi K40 Enhanced Game Edition destroys this stereotype – the cost of the device starts at $309. Over the past year, about 1.5 million gaming smartphones were purchased in China. Redmi’s plans to overcome this bar with just one smartphone look extremely ambitious. However, judging by the fact that the company managed to realize 100 thousand in the first minute of sales, the goal can be achieved.

Lu Weibing also notes that the company has long been studying this segment of devices and the decision to release such a smartphone is due to an increase in interest in them from young people. In general, the Redmi K40 Enhanced Game Edition offers a very interesting combination of features and price: for a little more than $ 300, the user gets a high-quality 120Hz OLED display and the flagship MediaTek Dimensity 1200 chip.
