Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra update brings November 2021 security patch

Once again, Samsung is doing something to impress its users and followers of its smartphones. Well, for another round, the company is rolling out a security patch before even Googles gets round to it. It usually comes at the very end of a month, but it’s surprising to see it coming almost one week before the end of the month. Today, the Galaxy S21 Ultra, one of the company’s most expensive and premium smartphones, is getting the November 2021 security patch.

Galaxy S21 Ultra back to the future

The company started to roll out the update for the flagship a few hours ago. As per the report, it was still October 25 when the update started to reach the eligible smartphones in Germany. The update is arriving six days before the actual “security patch level” that will be tagged as November 1, 2021. It’s the future brought to the past directly into your hands.

For now, the reports say that the update is only reaching eligible units in Germany. However, we expect the rollout to be expanded to more regions in the coming days. The changelog is quite limited and only mentions the usual set of “underhood improves”, security improvements, and bug fixes. The update is not so big, but also not so small to make us think that this is just the security patch and nothing more. It has 222 MB in size and will bring the devices to the software version G998BXXS3AUJ7.

The update does not bring the Pet Portrait Mode

Curiously, the update does not bring the improved pet portrait mode. This feature has reached the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 with the October security patch a few days ago. These particular features that let you capture portrait photos of your pets are also available on Galaxy S21 Ultra smartphones running the latest One UI beta. Apparently, this feature probably requires One UI 3.1.1 and above to work. So, we assume that most of the smartphones will have to wait until Android 12 and One UI 4.0 to ever try this feature.

The wait for Android 12 may not be much longer for the smartphones inside of Galaxy S21 series. Samsung has improved its game of software development. The latest November security patch coming at this point is just proof of this commitment. The Galaxy S21, S21+, and S21 Ultra will get this update by the end of the year, or maybe early in 2022.
