It is now possible to implant a vaccination chip under the skin

The technology of implanting microchips under the skin with some information is being actively developed and distributed in developed countries. So, some chips contain data about a person’s health so that emergency services can quickly receive it, while others contain electronic keys to doors to a home or office.

In Sweden, startup Epicenter has gone further and proposed a microchip that holds a passport for the COVID-19 vaccination. We can implant it under human skin and information from it can be read by any device using NFC technology. It is a grain of rice chip that has been implanted into the hand or between the index and thumb of a number of enthusiasts.

The company claims that if necessary, they can remove the chip at any time without harm to human health. The developers are confident that the implantation of chips will become commonplace and will allow storing information about the person, passport data, will serve as a bank card and will allow you to store other information.

At the moment, we are not talking about mass people. Epicenter does not sell or distribute chips. They implant it only in individual people in order to demonstrate the capabilities of technology.

It is now possible to implant a vaccination chip under the skin

In a video shared by Epicenter, Hannes Sjoblad, chief distribution officer, has the chip in his arm and simply waves a smartphone over it to pull up his vaccination status.

‘Implants are very versatile technology that can be in use for many different things, and right now it is very convenient to have COVID passport always accessible on your implant, he said in a statement.

‘In case your phone runs out of battery, it’s always accessible to you. So of course, that’s how we use this technology today; next year we are going to use it for something else,’ said Sjoblad.

In 2015, the company announced it had implanted the microchip in more than 100 of its employees; which allows them to open doors, operate printers, or buy smoothies with a wave of the hand.

Also, they can implant the chip with a simple injection of a syringe and with a click they can inject a microchip is in the employee’s hand. When activated by a reader a few inches away; a small amount of data flows between the two devices via electromagnetic waves.

‘It basically replaces a lot of things you have, other communication devices, whether it be credit cards or keys.’
