Oppo is working hard on top-level mobile processors

After tough US sanctions against Huawei, a number of Chinese companies jumped in and started developing their own mobile processors. Among them is Oppo, which began its journey into the market of SoCs with its MariSilicon X imaging processor.

It was introduced in December last year and at the moment it has become an exclusive for the flagship Oppo Find X5. At the same time, the company officially announced the development of its own mobile system on a chip.

Now the company continues to develop signal processors (ISP), and next year Oppo should introduce an application processor (AP), built according to the standards of 6-nm or 5-nm process technology from TSMC. And already in 2024, the Chinese giant should bring to market its first full-fledged mobile chip, created using 4-nanometer technology.

Oppo is working hard on top-level mobile processors

In terms of performance, it is unlikely that Oppo chips will be able to challenge solutions from recognized chipmakers. After all, it is very difficult to compete in the development of a flagship chip with giants like Qualcomm and Mediatek, and with zero experience it is almost impossible.

Earlier it was reported that the team involved in the creation of chips from Oppo already has several thousand people, and the annual salary of a number of employees exceeds $1 million.
