Rumors: iPhone 14 will finally get a front camera with autofocus

Apple iPhone - iPhone 15 Ultra

According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the next generation of iPhones will have improved selfie cameras with autofocus support and a wider aperture. Unlike current fixed-focus Apple models, the new front module will allow you to take high-quality pictures even when the user is too close or too far from the camera.

In addition, the f/1.9 aperture versus f/2.2 on the iPhone 13 will ensure that more light enters the camera sensor. This, in theory, will allow you to take more deep pictures with a blurry background; as well as high-quality night photos.

Kuo and other experts have already predicted that Apple‘s new iPhones will get rid of the traditional “notch” and use a small hole in the display instead. To do this, you will have to use smaller camera modules; but there is nothing impossible in this – for example, the selfie camera in the Samsung Galaxy S22 flagships also supports autofocus; but a small round cutout is enough for it. At the same time, although autofocus in the front modules has been supported in Samsung models for years; not all manufacturers have similar functionality – even the latest flagships of Google and OnePlus have a fixed focus in the front cameras.

Rumors: iPhone 14 will finally get a front camera with autofocus

According to Kuo, the new camera will be in use in four new iPhone 14 models. This means that the new technology will be available not only in Pro-series smartphones. This is good news amid rumors that the iPhone 14 Pro will otherwise be much more advanced than its regular counterparts – they will supposedly receive A16 chipsets instead of the A15 chipsets that will be used in regular iPhone 14 and cameras with better resolution.

Gizchina News of the week

Earlier it was reported that the iPhone 14 may have the possibility of emergency communication using satellites; but the data has not yet received official confirmation.

iPhone 14 Pro

Recently, a source has published the first live photo showing iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 14 Max and iPhone 14 Pro Max mockups used by accessory manufacturers to release cases.

It has already been said many times that the iPhone 14 line will not have an iPhone 14 mini model; which this photo confirms. This year we will see the 6.1-inch iPhone 14 Pro and 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Pro Max; which have two holes in the screen; as well as the 6.1-inch iPhone 14 and 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Max, which retained the notch.

As previously reported, the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max will have significantly larger camera modules; due to the new 48-megapixel image sensor. This is clearly visible in this photo. At the same time, the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max will receive a reduced camera module; in which two sensors will be located in the same way as the iPhone 13.
