Samsung Planning To Exit Feature Phone Segment In India

The aforesaid series phones have been well-received in India. However, Samsung India doesn’t list these phones on its official site. The company has launched a support page for its Galaxy Tab S6 Lite (2022) tablet. So, its exit from the feature phone segment won’t affect sale of other products in India. Its exit will enable other brands to tighten their grips in the feature phone segment. It will pave the way for Nokia and Itel in the entry-level feature phone segment. Several factors are pushing Samsung to exit India’s feature phone market.

The feature phone segment saw a drop of 39% year on year in 2022. This decline is a result of supply issues and other factors, as per a report by Counterpoint Research. Also, there was a major reduction in consumer demand. Aside from this, high inventory levels could be one of the reasons Samsung is leaving India’s feature phone market. Itel is currently the leading feature phone market in India with a majority share. Nokia will also benefit from this. However, it will be interesting to see which brand will take over Samsung.
