These gaming smartphones will bet on the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC

BlackShark 4 Pro global debut

Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 was not very successful. Throttling, gluttony and a hot temper accompany this chip. Realizing the need to fix things, Qualcomm released the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, which offered a 10% performance boost and a 30% improvement in power efficiency.

Naturally, the release of a new platform, which, moreover, should be better than its predecessor, is an excellent reason for smartphone manufacturers to release new products. A pack of devices with Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 is being prepared by Xiaomi.

The Black Shark sub-brand, which is working on the Black Shark 6 series, will also echo the parent company. Smartphones will appear on the market towards the end of the year and will be based on the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset. It is easy to guess that we are talking about the release of Black Shark 6 and Black Shark 6 Pro.

It is quite logical that Nubia does not intend to lag behind competitors. The company is preparing another gaming smartphone, which should debut soon and will receive a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset. The smartphone should come out as the Red Magic 7S Pro. Among the likely features of the smartphone, we have a powerful cooling system.

Gizchina News of the week

Introducing the top Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 single-chip system, Qualcomm announced a 10% increase in processor performance and an increase in GPU frequency by the same 10% while reducing power consumption across the platform by 15%. Logically, the increase in performance should be about the same 10%, but in reality it will hardly be noticeable, judging by the published test of Realme GT 2 Master Explorer Edition.

Realme GT 2 Master Explorer Edition based on Qualcomm’s latest SoC scored almost 1,060,000 points. And this is the level of the same Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. For comparison: Realme GT 2 Pro scores about 1,025,000–1,030,000 points in AnTuTu. The difference is 30,000 points, and this is not the increase you expect, looking at the official Qualcomm statements.

Realme GT 2 Master Explorer Edition performance data was shared by an insider; known as Digital Chat Station. Previously, he was the first to accurately announce the characteristics and release dates of several smartphones.

The well-known insider claims that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 (SM8550) is already performing very well in terms of power efficiency. The first tests show that the new SoC will be better than the current Qualcomm chipset.

Given that Qualcomm clearly doesn’t have production samples of the new SoC yet, this is very good news. They can especially please those who want to buy the Samsung flagships of the Galaxy S23 line; since, judging by the latest data, all of them in all markets will be based on the new Qualcomm SoC; that is, on Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.
