Apple is re-evaluating using BOE displays on iPhone 14 and 14 Max

A few months ago, news broke out stating that BOE was about to lose a huge order of iPhone 14 displays. To recall, the Chinese display maker struck a deal with Apple to supply the OLED display panels for the upcoming iPhone 14 series. The company was also behind some OLED displays found within the iPhone 13 series. This year, BOE has unilaterally altered the display circuit design of iPhones, which made Apple angry. The Cupertino-based firm halted the orders and the deal for iPhone 14 displays became uncertain. Now, however, a new report suggests that Apple may have a “change of heart”. The company is re-evaluating sample BOE OLED displays and may resume the orders.

Since we’re already at the end of June, we’re reaching a determinant point for both Apple and BOE to proceed with the deal. After all, the new iPhone series will be introduced in September. Many reports suggest that Apple’s component suppliers are already manufacturing the important components for the iPhone 14 series.

iPhone 14 Max

BOE will produce a display for the base iPhone 14 models

As per the report, BOE is waiting for a green light from Apple. If the company gets it, then it will try to begin maximum capacity display production between July and August. As per the recent reports, BOE OLED panels will go for the iPhone 14 and 14 Max. These will be the “basic” offerings in the lineup. The iPhone 14 won’t need an introduction, but the new 14 Max serves as a replacement for the mini. In fact, Apple is bringing a larger version, presumably with a bigger battery than the vanilla.

The big deal will come with the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max. These will come with OLED displays from Samsung and LG Display. The hardware in these iPhones will also see an upgrade to the Apple A16. While the base models may have a tweaked Apple A15.
