Windows 11: An update supposed to solve installation problems cannot be installed

Windows 11

At the end of June, Microsoft was rolling out the KB5014668 update for Windows 11. This update solves many problems. It is notably thanks to it that users can again connect to a WiFi hotspot; after connection problems encountered during the month of June. But that’s not all, since this new build also fixes some in-game crashes, as well as issues with DirectX 12 and the search bar.

Finally, the update fixes some installation problems encountered by some users. And that’s where the problem is, since build KB5014668 fails to install itself. At least for many users, according to the testimonials that accumulate on Microsoft’s forums. Indeed, ironically enough, the update seems to be impacted by the exact bug it is trying to fix.

For the time being, we therefore advise you not to download this update if you are already experiencing installation problems with a Windows 11 build. If it is already too late for you, note that there is obviously a temporary solution in waiting for Microsoft to fix the bug permanently. This one comes to us from the user CamiAraceli that posted on the forum of the Redmond firm.

He thus indicates that he had to get in touch with the support teams, who advised him to perform an installation using a bootable key. According to him, it took several restarts to overcome it, but the problem seems to have disappeared.

Some recent AdDuplex statistics indicate that Windows 11 is steadily gaining support. Therefore, if 19.7% of PCs had Windows 11 installed as of the end of April, Windows 11 would have “caught” 23.1 percent of PCs by the end of June.

Additionally, when you combine the percentages of stable Windows 11 and its test releases, you get 23.9 percent. This percentage is precisely the same as that of Windows 10 21H1, the second-most popular version of Windows 10. The top spot is firmly held by 10 21H2, which over the past two months has only improved; its share climbed from 35 to 38.2 percent.
