The beta just went live. The stable release is weeks away. Here's what your Galaxy is in line for.

Summary

  • Samsung released the One UI 9 Beta for the Galaxy S26 series on May 13, 2026, with the program initially live in Germany, UK, South Korea, and the US — expanding to India and Poland on May 26.
  • One UI 9's official stable debut is confirmed for Samsung's second Unpacked event in 2026, expected July 22 in London, alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Z Flip 8.
  • One UI 9 introduces expanded Galaxy AI features, thicker brightness and volume sliders, an enhanced lock screen media player with waveform animations, app floating bubbles, a system-level contacts picker, and Parental Controls relocated to a dedicated Settings section.
  • Galaxy S22 series, Galaxy S21 FE, and Galaxy Z Fold 4 will not receive One UI 9 — these devices have reached the end of their major OS update cycles.Samsung hasn't published an official eligible devices list yet, but the roster below is derived from Samsung's confirmed 4–7 year update policy and matches early Android 17 firmware leak data.

Since One UI 8.5 introduced the major UI design changes, One UI 9 is not expected to bring similarly dramatic visual updates — this is a refinement and feature expansion release rather than a ground-up redesign. That said, Samsung describes the update as bringing expanded creative tools, customization options, a more accessible mobile experience, and stronger security protections.

How to Join the One UI 9 Beta Right Now

To join the beta program, open Samsung Members, sign in with your Samsung account, and tap the One UI 9 Beta Programme banner. After registration, the first beta update — PDA build ending with ZZEF, weighing 3,618MB — downloads via Settings then Software Update. Beta participants may encounter minor bugs; feedback submission through Samsung Members helps shape the stable release.

Rollout Timeline After the Stable Launch

Galaxy S25 and S24 series are expected to receive stable One UI 9 around the same time as the Z Fold 8 and Z Flip 8 in July. Galaxy S23 series, mid-range A-series devices, and tablets follow toward the end of 2026.
