Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella revealed that the Xbox Series X and S are still doing well for the company; and the console remains the best-selling generation in its history.

As IGN reports, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella reaffirmed on an earnings conference call that the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S are the fastest-selling consoles in the company’s history. Already at the beginning of the year, we reported that the sales of this new generation had reached records in terms of copies sold; thus surpassing the sales of the Xbox 360 or the Xbox One.

While they obviously didn’t outsell the Xbox One or Xbox 360; both consoles are selling faster than those two did in the same period after their respective launches.

During his conference call, Satya Nadella also announced that Xbox has been the market leader for next-gen consoles for the past three quarters, meaning the console has outsold the PS5 since the start of 2022. Indeed, in February 2022, we already hot a report that sales of the Xbox Series exceeded those of the PS5 for the first time in the European market.

Recently, Sony saw its PS5 sales collapse in Europe; leaving the field open to Nintendo’s Switch, but especially to Microsoft’s Xbox. According to Gamesindustry, Sony’s latest console is already showing 44% less sales compared to last year; in particular because it is now much easier to obtain a Microsoft console.

Sony is however not the only one to go through a bad period. According to the company’s fiscal 2022 earnings report, Microsoft’s gaming revenue was down 7% ($259 million); compared to trends in the same period of fiscal 2021. In addition, hardware revenue fell 11% and Xbox content and services revenue plunged 6% . In question, we can cite the supply constraints due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which have not yet been fully corrected. Moreover, the consoles have been on the market for almost 2 years now, and the initial enthusiasm has largely waned.
