Samsung’s OLED Touchscreen Laptops: Will they live up to the hype?

Samsung claims that it is starting mass production of Samsung OLED Touchscreen panels. These displays will add touch sensors to the panel. Moreover, the company plans to use this in Galaxy Book laptops.

These laptops will debut in the next week. The laptop display panel will contain OCTA. It is an AMOLED technology with a cell touch.  The screen gets thin, which is another cool thing about OCTA. So the computer will be thin and easy to carry. So, that’s all there is to OCTA. It makes the screen look and feel better and makes the laptop lighter.

It is better than the one that uses separate touchscreen panel film. Samsung says Galaxy Book will be the first laptop with an OLED panel and integrated touchscreen.

What Is So Good in Samsung OLED Touchscreen Panel?

Earlier this technology was first used in the Galaxy S series and iPhones. Furthermore, these panels will debut in 13-inch and 16-inch laptops. Most importantly, the laptop with this display will support 3k resolution.

The screen has a 120Hz refresh rate. However, reports say that it is unclear the laptop that will use these panels. But we can expect Galaxy Book to have OLED touchscreens.

Moreover, the company plans to start large-scale production of OLED touchscreen panels. Samsung will then offer these panels to other brands and partners.

As of now, the company is providing OLED display panels to Apple. Since 2017, Apple has been using these panels. Recently, Apple plans to launch its MacBook Pro with touchscreens in the years to come.

Furthermore, Samsung is also developing special OLED displays for upcoming iPad Pros. As per reports, Apple wants to release touchscreen MacBooks in 2024. Even, Many reviewers criticized Apple for not having an OLED panel in the recently launched Macbook Pro 2023.

Yet, it is uncertain which model will feature a Samsung OLED touchscreen display. Not to mention, all previous MacBooks contain LCD panels.

However, the latest 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro will feature ProMotion and mini-LED backlighting. Most importantly, the OLED display has self-emitting pixels and does not require backlighting.

So, this is very different from LCD panels. Ultimately, the upcoming MacBook Air and Pro will have a better contrast ratio. Moreover, they will have longer battery life.

Why Does Apple Want To Use Touchscreen Panels?

Reportedly, these MacBooks will have an old design, keyboard, and touchpad, but they will have the latest display.

Therefore, it will be easy for users to use these Apple laptops like iPhones and iPads. As of now, Apple believes that adding a touchscreen to laptops will result in a bad user experience.

However, if the OLED touchscreen display works well, the company’s sales will grow enormously. Time will tell how Samsung’s OLED touchscreen panel will help Apple grow its business.
