Apple prepares new iMac and touchscreen MacBooks with M3 chips

Apple’s Mac computers have been a favorite among professionals and power users for their performance, stability, and user friendly interface. The company‘s commitment to innovation and cutting-edge technology has helped maintain its position as one of the leading manufacturers of personal computers.

Recently, Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman shared some insider information on Apple’s upcoming Mac plans through his Power On newsletter. According to Gurman, Apple is currently testing a new iMac desktop computer that is rumored to have a 24-inch display. And is expected to be released in the second half of 2023.

This new iMac will be available in the same colors as its 2021 predecessor. And could be running the in house Apple M3 processor. The M3 chip is a custom Apple processor. Which offers superior performance and energy efficiency compared to traditional processors.

Apart from the iMac, Gurman also claims that Apple is planning to release three more Mac computers in the spring and summer of 2023. These include the first 15-inch MacBook Air, a refreshed 13-inch MacBook Air, and a Mac Pro with Apple Silicon for the first time (M2 Ultra).

The MacBook Air has been one of Apple’s most popular laptops. Due to its lightweight design, impressive battery life, and powerful performance. The upcoming MacBook Air will feature a larger display, enhanced performance, and longer battery life.

The Mac Pro, on the other hand, is a powerful desktop computer designed for professionals who require thet highest level of performance. The new Mac Pro will be running Apple Silicon. A custom designed processor that offers excellent performance and energy efficiency.

Looking beyond 2023, Gurman also claims that Apple is planning to release an iPad Pro with an OLED screen and an M3 chip in H1 2024. OLED screens offer superior image quality and energy efficiency compared to traditional LCD screens. Making them an ideal choice for high end devices.

Gurman also suggests that the first MacBooks with an OLED screen and touchscreen support will be available in 2025. Touchscreen support would be a significant departure from Apple’s traditional design philosophy. Which has focused on offering a seamless user experience through its trackpad and keyboard.
