Xiaomi 13 Ultra: The ruler of smartphone world is coming on April 18

Xiaomi 13 Ultra

After multiple leaks and rumors, the Xiaomi 13 Ultra started to materialize earlier this month. Now, Xiaomi confirms that this is not a myth, the new ruler of the smartphone world is set to come on April 18. The Xiaomi 13 Ultra, with a huge focus on the camera department, is set to go official. Xiaomi confirmed the phone’s arrival earlier this month, and now we have the launch date with a gorgeous new teaser that gives us a glimpse of the camera.

Once again, the Xiaomi 13 Ultra will have a camera design that makes it stand out among the crowd. We have a circular island that is set apart from the design language introduced with the Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro. This time around, we have four separate shooters. As per the teaser, the Xiaomi 13 Ultra will be “a shot above” the competition. Once again, Xiaomi counts on Leica’s expertise to push this phone as one of the best smartphones for photography.

The new Xiaomi 13 Ultra will pack a new system called Leica Vario-Summicron lens. Apparently, the main shooter will bring a bright f/1.8 aperture, and a f/3.0 for the telephoto snapper. The setup also brings a dual LED flash to assist in dark environments. Of course, the software will also play a big role in improving the night shots and making them rich in detail. As per the rumors, the phone will bring a 1-inch Sony IMX989 50 MP main camera, a 50 MP ultrawide shooter, and two 50 MP telephoto snappers.

Xiaomi 13 Ultra’s alleged specifications emerge

The leaks suggest a 6.7-inch AMOLED screen for the phone with QHD+ resolution. Under the hood, the device will pack the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. It will draw power from a 4,900 mAh battery with 90W wired charging and 50W wireless charging.

Xiaomi 13 Ultra

The Xiaomi 13 Ultra will reach global markets, and the leaks point to a starting price of CNY 6,300 ($915) for the base model with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB storage. However, we expect this price to be slightly above once the phone reaches Europe and other global markets.

The Xiaomi 13 Ultra’s release makes perfect sense at this point. According to Xiaomi itself, there is no Xiaomi 13S series coming in 2023. So, this device along with the Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro will be the brand’s sole flagships throughout 2023. The 13 Ultra will act as a sequel to the Xiaomi 12S Ultra that launched in the second half of 2022. We are curious to see if the company has some surprises in tow for the April 18 event.
