Introducing the OnePlus Open: Open For Everything

OnePlus Open

After a lot of teasers and leaks, the OnePlus Open finally became official. It’s the first foldable phone from OnePlus, and the smartphone maker has made a valiant effort to make the device stand out from the rest.

To be exact, one of the primary highlights of the OnePlus Open is its design. It features a shorter and relatively wider book-style foldable form factor. Such a design enhances comfort and makes it easier to handle such a large-sized phone.

And before you ask, it’s based on the Oppo Find N3, which has also just dropped. But the OnePlus Open will be for more global markets.

Main Highlights of the OnePlus Open

There are a lot of things that make the OnePlus Open a great choice as a book-style foldable. Among them, these are the primary highlights:

Enhanced Displays for Top-Notch Viewing Experience

The OnePlus Open features a 6.31-inch panel on the external cover. It’s an LTPO AMOLED display with 2484x1116px resolution. OnePlus calls it Super Fluid LTP 3.0 screen, which comes with a dynamic refresh rate ranging from 10 to 120Hz. And it features a closer to the traditional aspect ratio, sitting at 20:9.

Besides, the external screen of the OnePlus Fold can reach 1400 NIT of typical brightness and 2800 NIT of peak brightness. And for the interior display, the device comes with a 7.82-inch Flexi-fluid LTPO 3.0 AMOLED screen. It, too, has a dynamic refresh rate, but the range is from 1 to 120Hz.

Internal Screen OnePlus Open

The interior display features a 1.0758:1 aspect ratio, which is basically what makes the Open shorter and wider. Also, the brightness ratings of the display are the same as the external display.

Eye-catching Design and Lightweight Build

OnePlus Open comes in two different color options. There’s the Voyager Black and Emerald Dusk. The latter is the classic OnePlus color that we’ve all seen in the past few releases. But what’s interesting is that the Emerald Dusk weighs 245 grams, while the Voyager Black is 239 grams. The weight difference is likely for different coatings.

But no matter which one you pick, you’ll end up with a lighter foldable device. To compare, the flagship foldable from Samsung, the Galaxy Z Fold5, weighs 253 grams. And you also get the classic OnePlus alert slider on the side.

Lightweight Hinge OnePlus Open

That said, the design of the OnePlus Open doesn’t just prioritize comfort and looks. It also aims to make you more productive. When you unfold the device, you will be greeted with OnePlus Canvas. OnePlus says that it has been designed from the ground up to level up multitasking.

The other two cameras of the OnePlus Open are selfie cameras. Its external display comes with a 32MP snapper, while the internal display features a 20MP selfie shooter.
