The
Redmi K100 is
getting a huge battery upgrade - we knew this was coming.
Xiaomi has confirmed that the phone will pack a 10,000mAh battery, making it the first Xiaomi phone with a battery of this size. It also supports 100W wired charging, so users will not have to wait too long to refill such a large battery.
Redmi is preparing the phone for its launch in China on October 27. The K100 will also focus on gaming, with a fast screen and a dedicated display chip designed to improve performance.
A 10,000mAh battery built for long use
The
Redmi K100 uses Xiaomi's latest Jinshajiang battery technology. According to the company, the battery has 28% silicon-carbon content and an energy density of 957Wh/L. Redmi also says it can keep working at temperatures as low as -20°C.
The company has shared some impressive battery life claims. The phone can reportedly play short videos for more than 29 hours, handle live streams for over 24 hours and play music for more than 47 hours. It is also rated for over 18 hours of navigation.
These figures come from Redmi, so real battery life will depend on screen brightness, apps and network use. Still, a 10,000mAh battery should give the K100 a clear advantage over most regular flagship phones.
100W charging and reverse charging
A battery this large needs fast charging, and Redmi has confirmed support for 100W wired charging. The phone also supports 27W wired reverse charging, which lets it charge other devices.
There is also a bypass charging feature for gaming. This can power the phone directly instead of sending all the power through the battery, helping reduce heat during long gaming sessions.
A 165Hz screen and Snapdragon 8 Elite
The Redmi K100 has a 6.83-inch display with a 165Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of 3,500 nits. Redmi says more than 40 games support native 165fps play, while over 100 titles can use frame interpolation to make motion look smoother.
The phone runs on Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, paired with a dedicated D2 display chip. It will also ship with HyperOS 4 and feature a metal frame, Bose-tuned speakers and a new Firefly Green color.
Launching in China on October 27
The Redmi K100 will launch in China on October 27, alongside the new Redmi Clip Neo open-ear earphones. Pricing and global availability have not yet been confirmed.
The battery is the headline feature, but the combination of 100W charging, a fast display and dedicated gaming hardware makes the K100 more interesting. The key question now is how much the phone will cost and whether a global version will keep the same large battery.
