Redmi has just revealed new details about the standard
Redmi K100 ahead of its launch on October 27 at 7 PM. The phone is built for gaming, with a 165Hz screen and a dedicated gaming chip. But It also uses a chip that is a generation old.
A Screen Built for Gaming
The 6.83-inch AMOLED screen runs at 165Hz and reaches 3,500 nits at peak brightness. Redmi says it supports a 480Hz multi-finger touch reporting rate and 3,500Hz instant touch sampling. More than 40 games support native 165fps. The phone also adds a dedicated D2 chip, the first in a standard K-series model. Redmi says it cuts power use by an average of 1.1W in Honor of Kings at 144fps on the highest settings. Notebookcheck also notes Bose-tuned audio.
The Chip Is a Year-Old Flagship
The phone uses the Snapdragon 8 Elite, which
Qualcomm introduced in October 2024, so it two years old now. It is not Qualcomm’s newest chip.
Xiaomi said, that many flagships this year would use previous-generation chips. Rivals such as the iQOO Neo12 use the newer Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, so buyers who want the latest silicon should compare carefully. A dedicated gaming chip helps, but its not a deal breaker by far in my opinion.
Software, Battery and Price
The K100 already ships with
HyperOS 4 on Android 17. The announcement also mentions a glass-style interface and an upgraded Xiaoai assistant powered by Xiaomi’s MiMo model. Redmi has not officially detailed the battery, but leaks and reports say, 10,000mAh with 100W charging, which would be the largest in any Redmi phone. Pricing is also unconfirmed but
Tipster Digital Chat Station suggests about 3,500 yuan (about $493). The K100 Pro starts at 3,699 yuan (about $521).
Will It Reach Global Markets?
Xiaomi has not confirmed a global release. Notebookcheck says it could arrive outside China as a Poco phone, as earlier Redmi K models have done.
