Back in the last year, Samsung partnered with Maison Margiela for the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 Maison Margiela Edition. This year, the company is doing the same for the launch of a Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 Maison Margiela Edition. The new edition is all about bringing a unique new design that combines Samsung and Maison Margiela’s expertise.

The competition is certainly rising in the market of flip smartphones. With multiple brands like Oppo and Vivo joining the segment, Samsung wants to keep its comfortable position. One of the company’s strategies seems to be betting on exclusive limited editions of its smartphones. That strategy probably gave birth to the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 Maison Margiela Edition.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 Maison Margiela Edition comes in a special white package, which reflects Maison Margiela’s “unfinished style by utilizing a distinct stitching pattern in the center of the flap”. The phone’s package is covered by paper-based woven cloth fabric. It resembles an archival sample storage used in atelier stores to keep fabric samples and threads. The device’s retail package also brings a Flap Leather Case, a Flipsuit Case, and two types of Splatter Flipsuit Cards. Interestingly, this variant includes a 25W PD Charger along with the USB cable.

The Galaxy Z Flip5 Maison Margiela edition has a distinct rear glass. Its design shows the inner workings of a Mason Margiela jacket. Furthermore, it is enhanced by the silver and metallic effects exclusive to this special edition. The phone also includes special icons and wallpapers. Last but not least, there are Flipsuit Cards that change the phone’s theme to match the card’s pattern.

About Maison Margiela: Maison Margiela, formerly Maison Martin Margiela, is a French luxury fashion house founded by Belgian designer Martin Margiela and Jenny Meirens in 1988 and headquartered in Paris. The house produces both haute couture-inspired artisanal collections and ready-to-wear collections, with the former influencing the designs of the latter.

Availability for the Maison Margiela Edition

The special edition will be available in select markets from November 30. For now, Samsung did not reveal the price of the tablet. We will have to wait for the next week to know more about its price. Users in South Korea can already register on a special landing page for a notification once the phone becomes available for sale.

A Different look, but the same phone inside

While the design makes it unique in comparison to other devices under Samsung’s portfolio, we have to say that internally, this device is similar to any other Galaxy Z Flip5 variant. To recap the phone’s specs, it boasts a 6.7-inch foldable display with 2,640 x 1,080 pixels of resolution. It’s a Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with 120Hz refresh rate and HDR10+. There is also a 3.4-inch Super AMOLED screen with 748 x 720 pixels of resolution and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 coating.

Under the hood, the handset has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 ensuring performance. It offers up to 512 GB of Storage with 12 GB of RAM. In terms of optics, the Galaxy Z Flip5 has a double camera setup with two 12 MP snappers. For selfies and video calls, there is a 10 MP selfie shooter.

The Galaxy Z Flip5 boasts stereo speakers, Wi-Fi 6e, Bluetooth 5.3, GPS, NFC, and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. The device runs Android 13 but is upgradeable to Android 14 with One UI 6. Lights are kept by a 3,700 mAh battery with 25W charging and 15W wireless charging.
