Apple Unveils New MacBook Air with M3 SoC, Improved Wi-Fi, and Dual Display Support

According to Apple’s press release, the new MacBook Air delivers “even better performance, faster Wi-Fi, and support for dual external displays.” This signifies a notable improvement in user experience, particularly for users who demand enhanced processing power, seamless connectivity, and efficient multitasking capabilities.

The larger 15-inch model comes exclusively with the M3 chip, starting at $1,300. The 13-inch version offers both M3 and M2 options, starting at $1,100 and $1,000, respectively. Notably, the M1 version has been discontinued. This strategic move emphasizes Apple’s focus on the latest M-series processors and their potential for future advancements.

Both the 13-inch and 15-inch models benefit from the integration of Wi-Fi 6E. Enabling significantly faster wireless speeds compared to previous generations. Additionally, users can now connect two external displays to their MacBook Air, expanding their workspace and facilitating multitasking endeavors. However, a potential bottleneck remains in the base configuration’s 8GB RAM, which independent tests have shown to be inadequate in certain intensive applications. The base storage capacity remains at 256GB.

While Apple emphasizes the M3’s gaming capabilities and AI performance improvements, these aspects were previously announced with the introduction of the M3 chip in the MacBook Pro lineup. The rest of the technical specifications, including design and display resolution, remain unchanged from the previous generation.
