Unlock the Power of Gemini with Google Chrome’s Address Bar Integration

In early February 2024, Google changed the name of Bard to Gemini and launched a new mobile app to take the place of Assistant. At first, this app was only available in the US. However, Google soon made it available in Europe and Asia too. But there were still many countries, including Canada, where you couldn’t get Gemini’s mobile app. Now, that is changing. Google is making Gemini’s mobile app available in over 100 countries around the world.

Gemini Accessibility Gets Even Easier Google Gemini

With the expansion, you don’t have to sideload the Gemini app onto your Android phone anymore. Now, you can download it straight from the Google Play Store. After downloading, replace Google Assistant with Gemini on your phone to start using the new AI-powered chatbot. However, some old rules are still in place: if you have the Gemini for Workspace add-on turned on, the mobile app won’t work, and you can’t use the Gemini app in the Android Work Profile.

On iPhone, you will be able to access Gemini directly through the Google app. This will be available over the next couple of weeks. Google is making Gemini Extensions available in all languages and countries where the chatbot is now available. This means you can use Extensions to get relevant information from other Google services like Drive, Gmail, YouTube, and more.

Google Gemini Now Accessible in Chrome Browser Google Gemini

Google has made it simpler to use the Gemini chatbot from Chrome on your PC. You can activate Gemini by typing “@gemini” in Chrome’s Omnibox, followed by your question. When you press enter, it will open Gemini on the web and provide you with an answer. This feature was first seen in a test version of Chrome called Chrome Canary in mid-April. Since the feature is just starting to be released, you might not be able to use it right away from Chrome’s address bar on your PC.

Just a few days ago, Google announced that it would include machine learning models in Chrome’s address bar to give better suggestions. If you use Gemini a lot, having the chatbot integrated directly into Chrome’s address bar will make your work much faster.

The wider release of the Gemini mobile app comes just days before Google I/O, an event where Google is expected to announce many new features and improvements for its AI chatbot.
