SanDisk has announced its latest high-speed SSD, the WD_BLACK SN8100. It is cutting-edge hardware with PCIe Gen 5.0 technology. It is aimed at gamers, content creators, and professionals who need the highest speed and reliability.
SanDisk Announces Fast WD_BLACK SN8100 NVMe SSD with PCIe Gen 5.0
WD_BLACK SN8100 reads at speeds of up to 14,900 MB/s and writes at speeds of up to 14,000 MB/s. It is one of the fastest consumer SSDs available. Storage capacity is up to 8TB, which is ample storage for large games, videos, and AI data.
The SSD uses SanDisk’s BiCS8 TLC 3D NAND technology, the cause of its performance and lifespan. The 4TB model features a storage ability to deal with up to 2,400 terabytes written (TBW), therefore a durable model.
Power efficiency is also factored in. SN8100 draws up to 100% less power than PCIe Gen 4.0 solutions. It runs at 7 watts or less even with full use. This prevents the system from overheating without the use of expensive or noisy fans.

There are two cooling solutions. The default is a minimal yet effective one. The other is a low-profile aluminum heatsink for improved cooling. This edition also offers customizable RGB lighting so users can choose what it does look like.
Speed is not everything performance is about. Random access performance of over 2.3 million IOPS is also provided by the SN8100, resulting in shorter load time and faster access to data. SanDisk says that the 2TB and 4TB variants are twice as fast at reads compared to Gen 4.0 drives.
The SSD supports Intel Core Ultra and AMD platforms supporting PCIe Gen 5.0. The SSD is meant for users who need extreme performance—gaming, video editing, or AI processing.
WD_BLACK SN8100 will debut the shelves starting June. Price not yet announced. With its scorching speed, efficiency, and ginormous capacity, the SN8100 sets the new benchmark for high-performance SSDs.
