Fortnite is still not available for iPhone users, even though Epic Games won a court case earlier this month. The court said Apple must allow Epic to offer Fortnite again, but nothing has changed yet. Epic’s CEO, Tim Sweeney, says Apple is delaying the app for no clear reason. He says Apple’s review team should check apps fairly, not use delays to block rivals.
Back in 2020, Epic added its own payment system inside Fortnite. Apple didn’t allow that, so it removed the game from the App Store. That started a legal battle. In 2021, a court decided that Apple had the right to block Fortnite; Epic fought, however, and this year the court permitted developers to use their payment methods. Apple, unhappy with the ruling, asked for more time before making any changes.
Epic tries again, but Apple says no
After the new court win, Epic submitted Fortnite to the App Store in the US. It also tried to add it to its own store for iPhones in Europe. But Apple blocked both attempts.
Sweeney said this isn’t fair. He said Apple should follow its own rules and review apps quickly. He believes Apple is trying to slow things down so it can stay in control.
So far, Apple hasn’t said anything about why Fortnite is still not allowed. The rule Epic broke in 2020 is no longer in place, but Apple still might not allow the game back.
iPhone users are still waiting
For now, people using iPhones can’t download or play Fortnite. They will have to wait while Apple’s appeal goes through the courts. That could take a long time. The fight between Apple and Epic is still going. It’s no longer just about payments. It seems it is now about power, control, and how apps are allowed to work on iPhones.
