Xiaomi looks set to turn up the heat in its Turbo lineup. Regulatory filings in China have quietly confirmed the Redmi Turbo 5 — which, in typical Xiaomi fashion, should hit international markets under the POCO X8 Pro name. The paperwork (model number 2511FRT34C) doesn’t shout “headline grabber” at first glance, but a closer look at the specs suggests this could be a noticeable leap forward. The headline change is under the hood. Well-known leaker @DigitalChatStation claims the POCO X8 Pro will swap out last year’s Dimensity 8400-Ultra for MediaTek’s Dimensity 8500. On paper, it’s not just a numbers game — expect smoother gameplay, faster app switching, and a bit more breathing room for the battery.
Speaking of the display, leaks point to a 6.6-inch 1.5K LTPS panel with softer, rounded corners. It’s said to offer better color accuracy and less power drain — handy for long sessions scrolling or streaming. Build quality is also getting some love, with a metal mid-frame replacing the more flexible materials in the previous generation.
For now, Xiaomi is keeping launch dates under wraps, but given the regulatory green light, an announcement shouldn’t be far off. If the POCO X8 Pro delivers on these rumors, it could be one of the more balanced “performance-first” mid-range options this year — without breaking the bank.
