According to multiple reports out of China, the Beijing government will build thousands of 5G base stations this year. A recent government work report states that in terms of digital infrastructure, 5G is the vanguard of “new infrastructure”. The report proposes that in 2021, Beijing will add 6,000 5G base stations. It will also promote the application of gigabit fixed networks and IPv6.
According to previous reports, by the end of 2020, the number of 5G base stations in Beijing exceeds 37,000. At the time, it meets its target of covering urban areas and some key business areas.
During the “14th Five-Year Plan” period, Beijing’s “new infrastructure for the digital economy” will speed up. It plans to build 60,000 5G base stations and build communication network infrastructure represented by the Internet of Things, Internet of Vehicles, industrial-grade 5G chips, and satellite Internet. Huawei had total control of the Chinese 5G smartphone market at the end of 2020
Push Big data recently released a report showing the market shares of 5G-enabled smartphone manufacturers as well as top-selling models. According to the source, Huawei took over half of the modern smartphone market in China last year, taking 48.8% of the market. Vivo occupies the second position with 16.6% while Oppo is third with 11.2%.
