Apple A20 Pro GPU Benchmark Scores Leak Revealing Impressive Geekbench 6 Metal Performance

A new leak claims to reveal a specific Geekbench 6 Metal GPU score for Apple's upcoming A20 Pro chip. However, I couldn't independently verify that number, so I'd take it with a grain of salt.

There is better evidence for some of the hardware changes, though.

A Weibo leaker known for Apple chip leaks has reconstructed part of the A20 Pro's layout using solder ball positions and die images. The analysis suggests Apple could move to a 7-core GPU.

That's one more GPU core than the 6-core GPU in the A19 Pro.

It may not sound huge, but it's a meaningful hardware change for a new generation.

The same leak points to a 96-bit memory interface. The A19 Pro uses a 64-bit interface, so this would represent a 50% increase.

That could give the A20 Pro more memory bandwidth. It will be useful for gaming, video editing, and other graphics-heavy workloads.

The efficiency cores are also expected to get more L2 cache. The leak claims 8MB, compared with 6MB on the A19 Pro.

Combined with the wider memory interface, the changes suggest Apple is focusing on keeping more data close to the chip and reducing potential bottlenecks.

Some predictions put the A20 Pro at around 4,200 points in Geekbench single-core and above 10,000 in multi-core.

For now, though, these are still estimates based on previous generation improvements. They aren't backed by a confirmed benchmark screenshot.

The A19 Pro, meanwhile, reportedly reached around 45,657 points in the Metal GPU test. That's a much more useful baseline when judging future A20 Pro leaks.

So while the exact benchmark number remains questionable, the hardware leaks are starting to paint a more interesting picture of Apple's next Pro chip.
