Vivo X500 Pro Max Just Broke 4,000 Points on Geekbench

Vivo is getting ready to launch the X500 Pro Max, and we now have a first look at what its new MediaTek chip can do. The phone has appeared several times on Geekbench, where it managed to pass 4,000 points in single-core and 13,000 points in multi-core tests.

Those are some big numbers. More importantly, both the Chinese and global versions seem to use the same Dimensity 9600 chip.

The Geekbench results come from the Chinese Satellite Communication version of the X500 Pro Max. This model carries the V2602DA number, while the normal Chinese phone should be V2602A. A global version with the V2610 model number has also appeared before.

All of them point to the same Dimensity 9600 series chipset.

The chip has three CPU cores running at 3.10GHz, three faster cores at 4.35GHz and another two at up to 4.55GHz. Graphics are handled by a Mali-G2-Ultra-NX MC12 GPU.

Crossing 4,000 points in the single-core test is impressive, but I wouldn't focus too much on one benchmark. What matters more is whether Vivo can keep that speed during gaming and other heavy tasks without the phone getting too hot. Still, this is a very good start.

Vivo has already confirmed that the X500 Pro Max will come with a 6.85-inch BOE Q11 display with 2K resolution. The panel is also expected to support a 144Hz refresh rate.

The phone should ship with Android 17 and Vivo's new OriginOS 7 in China. Vivo will show OriginOS 7 on September 16, with the X500 series expected to follow around a week later.

Charging should reach 90W over a cable, while earlier leaks point to 40W wireless charging.

Performance may be getting the attention today, but the cameras could be the real reason to look at the X500 Pro Max.

The main camera is expected to use a 50MP Sony LYT-838 sensor with a large 1/1.28-inch size and LOFIC tech. A new 50MP Sony sensor should handle ultrawide shots.

Then there's the telephoto camera. Vivo is said to be using a 200MP periscope sensor with an 85mm focal length. That's a setup I want to see in action, especially given Vivo's recent focus on zoom photography.

Other expected features include a 50MP selfie camera with autofocus, an ultrasonic fingerprint reader, stereo speakers and IP68/IP69 water and dust protection.

The X500 Pro Max is shaping up to be a serious flagship, and it's good to see the global model getting the same chip. Benchmark scores don't tell us how good a phone will be, but 4,000 and 13,000 points certainly give the Dimensity 9600 a strong start.
