iPad mini update! Colours, delays and screens!

Rumours suggest that the new iPad mini could see a launch date of the 17th October with the first batch of small iPads available for Christmas. As the date is nearing we are beginning to get more iPad mini news, some good and some not so good!

First up it appears that Apple might be offering the in colour options like they have with the iPod touch 5. This means that rather than just the option of a white or black bezel, customers might be able to choose their in a range of fashionable colours including blue (pictured), green, orange, purple, yellow etc!

However, if this is true Apple will have to overcome rumoured problems with the manufacture of the rear alloy case for the iPad mini.

According to sources from Taiwan the manufacture of the shell of the iPad mini is achieving low yield results (basically there are too many cases not passing quality control) which could result in a delay shipping the new smaller iPad.

More rumors go on to suggest that LG and other screen vendors for the iPad mini are having problems with the new 7.85 inch screen which has forced Apple to adjust their original iPad mini order from 5 million units to 4 million.

If this is the case we could also be seeing shortages when the iPad mini launches, which is terrible news for Apple as the low-cost iPad mini is sure to be one of the hot must have items for Christmas this year!
