There’s been a lot of talk about
Apple raising prices for the
iPhone 17 series. Many reports suggested that die-hard Apple fans would need to invest more to acquire the latest and fanciest iPhones. However, a new report from
JPMorgan suggests that the situation might not be as
bad as expected. There will still be a price increase, but it won't cover the entire lineup.
Not all iPhone 17 Models Are Getting a Price Increase
According to the report, the
iPhone 17 Pro will cost $100 more than the iPhone 16 Pro. However, the base model will come with 256GB instead of the previous 128GB standard. So, the price increase will be there, but even if you get the cheapest variant, you will get twice the storage of the cheapest iPhone 16 Pro. Comparing the storage, the price is basically the same.
The standard iPhone 17 will start at $799, unchanged from last year. The
iPhone 17 Air, the super-thin iPhone, will replace the iPhone 16 Plus and might cost the same at $899. However, we won't discard a small increase of $50 for the newer model, bringing its price to $949. The fact is that the 17 Air is also rumored to bring the Apple A19 Pro, which could justify the price increase.
The most expensive iPhone, the
iPhone 17 Pro Max won't see a price increase. It will start at $1,199 with 256 GB of Internal Storage.
For now, these prices are rumored only for the US market. It's unclear whether other regions will have the same fate or not. Obviously, the prices vary based on the region. Some countries may see a bigger hike.
Fortunately, everything will be clarified in a couple of days. The iPhone 17 series will be unveiled in next week on September 9. The new iPhones will bring the new Apple A19 CPU series and a whole new design for their cameras.
