Disney+ to Transform into a "Super App" to Connect Everything

He explained that Disney wants to build Disney+ into a “super app” that connects many services and features in one place.

Right now, Disney+ is mainly used for watching movies and TV shows. In the future, Disney wants the app to do much more. The company says the goal is to create “one app to connect everything.” This means Disney+ could become a larger platform that combines different Disney services and experiences inside a single app.

Disney has not confirmed all the new features yet, but the company made it clear that it wants to move beyond the limits of a normal streaming platform. It's not a big surprise, since the company has been constantly trying to move beyond its competitors like Netflix or Prime Video.

The idea of “super apps” is already popular in some parts of the world, especially in Asia. These apps combine many tools and services in one place. Disney now wants to bring a similar idea to Disney+ as it looks for new ways to grow beyond streaming alone.

Obviously, this needs to be a smart and cautious move. After all, a Super App can improve the experience by offering many features in a single place. But at the same time, it can become bloated. For some users who just want the usual, this can easily go from a practical to an annoying experience if not made in the right way. This certainly will be limited to smartphones that have more processing capabilities, while TVs should retain the basic streaming features.
