Fairphone 6+ Is Shaping Up to Be More Than Just a Simple Upgrade

Fairphone is preparing to launch a more powerful version of its latest smartphone. The upcoming Fairphone 6+ is expected to follow the same repairable and modular philosophy as the company's other devices. Still, a new leak suggests it will also bring a meaningful hardware upgrade.

According to details shared by tipster Evan Blass (Evleaks), the Fairphone 6+ will feature Qualcomm's Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 chipset, more RAM, a high-refresh-rate LTPO display, and a new Cobalt Blue color option.

Fairphone 6+ Specifications and Features

The Fairphone 6+ will reportedly feature a P-OLED LTPO display with an adaptive 120Hz refresh rate and a resolution of 2,484 x 1,116 pixels. This should make the screen more efficient than a conventional fixed-refresh-rate panel while providing smoother animations and scrolling.

Under the hood, the phone is expected to offer up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM paired with 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. It will also retain a microSD card slot, a feature that has become increasingly rare on modern smartphones, particularly in the mid-range segment.

The biggest upgrade could be the move to Qualcomm's Snapdragon 7s Gen 4. While this is not a flagship chipset, it should provide a noticeable performance boost over the hardware found in the standard Fairphone 6.

The camera setup is expected to remain focused on the essentials. The Fairphone 6+ will reportedly feature a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilization (OIS) alongside a 13MP ultrawide camera. A 32MP front-facing camera will handle selfies and video calls.

A Larger Focus on Repairability

Despite the hardware upgrades, Fairphone is not abandoning the feature that separates its phones from most competitors.

The Fairphone 6+ will reportedly pack a 4,415mAh battery with 30W charging, which is not particularly impressive compared with some newer smartphones. However, the battery is designed to be easier to replace than those found in conventional sealed smartphones.

That approach is central to Fairphone's philosophy. The company focuses on making components easier to repair and replace, helping users keep their phones for longer instead of replacing the entire device when a single component fails.

The phone will reportedly be available in a new Cobalt Blue finish and will run Android 16 out of the box.
