Honor has
officially introduced its tale on the "Air" trend with the
Honor Magic8 Pro Air. The brand's new flagship puts size and weight front and center. According to the company, this is its lightest premium phone to date, and the numbers largely support that claim. The brand follows the trend that started with the likes of Galaxy S25 Edge, and gained momentum with the iPhone Air. While these two weren't the most succesful, Honor will try to convince its consumers with great specifications and much better batteries than both Apple and Samsung's thin phones.
Honor Magic8 Pro Air - One of the Slimmest Flagships Around
The
Honor Magic8 Pro Air weighs just 155g and measures 6.1mm thick. This puts this phone easily among the slimmest flagship phones currently available. It features a 6.31-inch OLED display with very narrow bezels. The bezels are listed at 1.08mm on all sides. Honor is clearly targeting users who want a compact, lightweight phone without stepping down to a mid-range lineup.
On the back, the phone uses a metallic satin-style finish created through a multi-layer coating process.
Honor compares the look and feel to automotive paint. Color options include Fairy Purple, Light Orange, Feather White, and Shadow Black. The frame is made from aluminum, and Honor claims it offers improved strength despite the ultra-thin profile.
Honor Magic8 Pro Air Specifications
Under the hood, the
Honor Magic8 Pro Air carries MediaTek’s Dimensity 9500 chipset. Despite the slim body, the phone packs a 5,500mAh battery, which is relatively large for its size. These numbers might not be jaw-dropping when looking at the current numbers of Chinese flagships. However, this is still beyond regular smartphones that have twice the thickness of the Honor Magic8 Pro Air.
The phone comes with 80W wired and 50W wireless charging.
Honor also mentions an energy density rating of 917Wh/L, though real-world battery life will depend on usage.
Camera Setup With AI Enhancements
The camera system is also a key element in this smartphone, bringing a balanced experience with advanced zoom. It includes:
- A 50MP 1/1.3-inch main sensor with optical image stabilization
- A 50MP ultra-wide camera with a 112-degree field of view
- A 64MP periscope telephoto with 3.2x optical zoom
Honor is also introducing an AI-assisted flash system that adjusts light output based on zoom level. There is also a new strobe-style portrait mode designed to improve low-light photos.
Other features include IP68 and IP69 water and dust resistance, stereo speakers, a 3D ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, and support for both physical SIM and eSIM. The display reaches a listed 6000 nits peak HDR brightness.
