As
expected, Honor has officially
launched the Honor Magic8 RSR
Porsche Design, its newest ultra-premium flagship developed in partnership with Porsche Design. The phone will go on sale in China on January 23 at 10:08 AM, continuing the long-running RSR collaboration focused on performance-driven design and materials. This device, however, raises the bar, offering a distinctive camera experience.
Porsche Design DNA, Refined Style
The Honor Magic8 RSR
Porsche Design sticks closely to the visual language established by earlier RSR models. Honor says the design draws inspiration from Porsche’s flowing body lines, most noticeably around the rear camera module. The phone will be available in Slate Gray and Moonstone color options.
On the back, Honor uses a microcrystalline nano ceramic panel instead of glass. The company claims this material offers improved durability, with a Mohs hardness rating of 8.5. Despite the added toughness, Honor says the Magic 8 RSR
Porsche Design is around 10% lighter than previous RSR devices.
Honor Magic8 RSR Porsche Design: Durability and Flagship Performance
Under the hood, the device has the
Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset. Honor is offering specs that go up to 24GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 1TB of internal storage.
Moreover, durability is a major focus in the Honor Magic8 RSR. The display comes with Honor’s Giant Rhino glass for endurance. The phone carries IP68 and IP69K ratings for dust and water resistance.
A Camera System That Pushes the Limits and Is Made To Impress
Obviously, Honor is not saving efforts when it comes to making this
variant's camera interesting. The Honor Magic8 RSR
Porsche Design features a triple camera setup led by a 50MP 1/1.3-inch main sensor with optical image stabilization. It is joined by a 50MP ultra-wide camera and a 200MP 1/1.4-inch telephoto sensor.
The tele camera offers 3.7x optical zoom and up to 100x digital zoom. Honor’s AiMAGE system helps improve colors and image quality. It mixes data from different sensors. The CIPA 6.5 stabilization helps keep photos steady. It's great when shooting handheld in low light.
If the built-in telephoto is not enough, Honor also offers a 2.35x teleconverter. It pushes the telephoto range from 200mm up to 5400mm. Honor is the latest brand to adopt the growing trend of external telephoto add-ons.
Optional Photography Kit and Flagship Extras
For users who want more control,
Honor is offering an optional photography kit. It includes a magnetic grip, a filter adapter, and an external telephoto lens aimed at long-range shooting.
Other useful features include satellite communication, an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, and 3D face unlock. The phone also packs a large 7,200mAh battery. It supports very fast charging, with 120W wired charging and 80W wireless charging. The device runs MagicOS 10 and comes with
Porsche Design exclusive themes and interface styling.
