Huawei Nova 5 With Kirin 810 Officially Uncovered

Huawei’s new product launch conference has brought a few interesting products. Apart from its second 7nm chip Kirin 810, the company also uncovered the much-anticipated Huawei Nova 5. The latter focuses on young customers. So it’s reasonable to see not only a powerful chip inside but also a powerful camera and a stylish look. Many think its biggest selling point is the newly announced SoC. But there are many other features that deserve our delight.

The phone’s 7.33mm thin body uses a diamond cutting process and a fully symmetrical metal middle frame. Moreover, the 3D carved texture design on the back ensures an outstanding look. At the same time, the phone weighs 171g only. The phone is available in four color options, including dilemma forest, midsummer purple, coral orange, and bright black.

At the event, the manufacturer introduced two variants of the Huawei Nova 5 and the Pro. Both models sport a 6.39-inch OLED display with drop design. It not only has an FHD+ resolution but also supports 108% DCI-P3 color gamut and full-range DC dimming. Our protagonist supports the 5^th-gen screen fingerprint. Huawei has been paying more attention to various certifications, making its products even more useful. The Nova 5 series comes with a TUV certification and supports for DCI-P3 and DC dimming.

Under the hood, the Huawei Nova 5 phone carries the newly-announced Kirin 810 chip. It’s the company’s second SoC based on a 7nm process node. It’s worth mentioning the Kirin 810 uses Huawei’s super file system and Huawei Ark compiler. The chip is paired with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of native storage. Such a storage combination is available for the Pro variant, while the original Huawei Nova 5 is packed with up to 8GB of RAM and a 128GB of ROM. In fact the only difference between the models is the fact, that Pro version uses the flagship Kirin 980 processor instead of Kirin 810. Both phones run on EMUI9 based on Android 9 Pie.

As expected, the front-facing camera has a 32MP resolution and an f/2.0 aperture. It supports four-in-one equivalent pixel 1.6um mode and advanced custom beauty. More interestingly, with the launch of this handset, the company has brought the portrait super night scene to the front camera.

On the opposite side, the Huawei Nova 5 carries an AI quad-camera. It combines four sensors: 48MP high-definition lens, 16MP super wide-angle lens, 2MP macro lens, and 2MP depth of field lens. Due to such a powerful camera module, we got a handheld night shots mode, and generally, an SLR-like shooting performance.

This handset has been made for young customers. So it’s logical to some new features added for customers who like to use their phones not only for making calls. Nova 5 is suitable for shooting VLOG. The camera supports high-dynamic range, 10 levels of beauty, AI smart video clips, etc.

Two models are packed with a 3500mAh battery. The Huawei Nova 5 series also supports 40W Huawei super-fast charge. The phone can charge 50% in 15 minutes and 85% in 30 minutes. The company also introduced its 40W chargers – the 40W original charger, the 40W car charger, and 40W power bank.

The original mode packed with an 8GB RAM and 128GB ROM costs 2799 yuan ($407). It will be available in all color options except the orange version. The pre-sale will start on July 13, and they will ship on July 28.

As for the Huawei Nova 5 Pro, the 8GB + 128GB variant is available at 2999 yuan ($436), and the 8 GB + 256 GB version is at 3399 yuan ($494). Its pre-sales will begin today, and June 28 is its first sale date.
