Infinix GT NX Controller and Station Turn Your Phone Into a Gaming Setup

Infinix is taking mobile gaming more seriously with two new accessories. The company has introduced the GT NX Controller and GT NX Station, designed to turn a compatible smartphone into something much closer to a handheld console or a desktop gaming system.

The Controller focuses on physical controls and low-latency input. The Station adds active cooling, wired networking, display output and a full set of ports. Infinix says both products will officially launch on September 30.

And honestly, this is a more interesting idea than another basic phone controller.

A controller with a built-in touchpad

The GT NX Controller has a split design that fits around a smartphone. It adds physical controls without removing the touch features that many mobile games still rely on.

Its most unusual feature is a large 1,089mm² glass touchpad. Infinix calls it a Pixel-Level FPS Precision Touchpad. It can work with swipe controls, but it can also act more like a mouse for aiming in FPS games.

The touchpad can also be mapped for MOBA games. This gives players another way to trigger skills without covering part of the phone's display with their fingers.

That could be useful in games where fast aiming matters. Touch controls are fine for many games, but they can feel limiting once you start playing competitive shooters.

Three chips focus on low latency

Infinix has also built a three-chip architecture into the controller.

Two chips are placed in the left handle, while another handles the right side. The company says this provides millisecond-level direct connectivity and keeps inputs responsive during fast gameplay.

The controller also includes haptic feedback.

Players can choose between Low, Medium and High intensity through Infinix's XArena software. The mapping mode can also trigger different vibration effects for certain events in supported games.

The controller is rated for more than 22 hours of gameplay on a charge.

That should be enough for several long gaming sessions before you need to think about charging it.

You can use it in different ways

The GT NX Controller is not limited to handheld gaming.

It supports several configurations, including phone clamping, desktop gaming and single-hand play. The grips also use a laser-textured finish to help prevent slipping during longer sessions.

This flexibility is a nice touch.

You can use the controller with your phone while travelling, then switch to a desktop setup when you get home. It can also support local multiplayer setups in supported configurations.

The GT NX Station is more than a dock

The second product is the GT NX Station.

It is a foldable docking station with a built-in TEC thermoelectric cooling system. Infinix designed it to help control temperatures during long gaming sessions and reduce the performance drops that can happen when a phone gets too hot.

This is probably the part of the package I find most interesting.

A normal USB-C dock can give you more ports. A gaming dock that also actively cools the phone can solve a much bigger problem.

High-end mobile games can push a smartphone hard. Once temperatures rise, the phone may reduce performance to keep things under control. Active cooling could help maintain higher performance for longer, although the actual results will depend on the phone and the room temperature.

Nine ports in one dock

The GT NX Station also works as a 9-in-1 hub.

It also supports USB-C PD pass-through charging, so you can keep the phone powered while gaming.

The Ethernet port is another useful addition. A wired connection can provide a more stable network link than Wi-Fi, which matters in competitive online games where even small connection issues can be annoying.

Your phone can become a big-screen console

The Station supports both Mirror and Extend modes.

Mirror mode simply puts the phone's screen on a compatible monitor or TV. Extend mode goes further by allowing the external display and phone screen to handle different tasks.

For example, you could put the game on the big screen while using the phone for a guide, chat or other controls.

You can also turn off the phone's own display in some setups. That can reduce power use and heat while keeping the game on the external screen.

There is one important catch, though.

Display output is not supported by every phone. Infinix says Mirror and Extend modes work with selected Infinix devices running XOS 16.3 or newer, as well as Android and iOS devices that support native DisplayPort output over USB-C. Other Android devices may need a driver.

So check compatibility before buying the dock.

How much do they cost?

In Malaysia, both accessories have an official retail price of RM399, or about $95 each.

During the current promotion, however, the GT NX Controller and GT NX Station are available for RM299 each, which is around $71.

There is also a GT NX Bundle with both products for RM549, or about $130.

These prices are for Malaysia, so they should not be treated as confirmed US or European pricing.

The accessories are expected to become available through Infinix's online channels, while wider retail availability is planned for early October in Malaysia. The official launch is scheduled for September 30 in some markets.
