iQOO Pad Ultra is officially here: Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, 165Hz OLED, and 9020mAh battery

iQOO has introduced the iQOO Pad Ultra gaming tablet in China, available in four configurations. The base version with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage costs 6,499 yuan (approximately $900 USD). The model with 16GB and 256GB is priced at 7,199 yuan ($1,000 USD), the variant with 16GB and 512GB costs 7,999 yuan ($1,100 USD), and the top tier with 16GB and 1TB reaches 8,999 yuan ($1,250 USD). International availability has not been confirmed yet, so these conversions serve as a rough guide.

The tablet is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chip, manufactured using TSMC's 2nm GAA process with an Offset PoP package. The processor packs eight cores: two Oryon-L cores clocked at 5.01 GHz, alongside six Oryon-M cores split between 4.03 GHz and 3.74 GHz. Graphics are handled by the Adreno 850 running at 1450 MHz, paired with LPDDR5X memory and UFS 4.1 storage.

Cooling is a major selling point for this tablet. The vapor chamber spans an enormous area of 71,446 square millimeters, backed by high thermal conductivity graphite. An active 30 by 30 millimeter fan works alongside a passive cooling surface of 23,253 square millimeters, which includes copper fins totaling 1,661 square millimeters. A dedicated Q4 gaming chip, a new Wi-Fi chip, and an advanced touch controller combine to deliver stable performance and ultra-low latency.

The display measures 8.8 inches diagonally with a resolution of 2304 by 1440 pixels, a 16:10 aspect ratio, and a 165Hz refresh rate. The bezels measure an even 2.65 millimeters across all four sides, and the panel displays 1.07 billion colors. Full-screen maximum brightness reaches 1600 nits, with local peak brightness hitting 4500 nits and a minimum brightness of just 2 nits. Touch sampling sits at 500 Hz, with instantaneous touch sampling reaching up to 5000 Hz.

The battery packs a 9020 mAh capacity, utilizing fourth-generation silicon anode technology and second-generation semi-solid cells with an energy density of 837 Wh/l. It supports 66W charging. The tablet measures a slim 5.74 millimeters in thickness and tips the scales at 298 grams.

Photography duties are handled by a 13-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front shooter. Connectivity and extra features include Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, USB 3.2 Gen 1 with a DisplayPort output, symmetric dual speakers, a 500 Hz gyroscope, and dual linear motors. It runs on OriginOS 7 HD and launches in Star Armor Silver and Ender Black colorways.

These ambitious specifications certainly stand out. We will have to wait and see how global availability shapes up for this intriguing piece of hardware.
