Meizu Ships About 20 million Smartphones Units This Year

Chinese manufacturing giant, Meizu, announced today that it shipped almost 20 million smartphones this year. However, this performance is slightly lower than its last year performance as it shipped about 22 million units. Meizu also stated that it got over 20 billion Yuan in revenue this year. In terms of sales, Meizu mid-rangers like Meizu M6 Note generated more funds compared to flagship Meizu Pro 7. Nevertheless, this shipment digit is nowhere near decent considering the fact that the likes of Xiaomi shipped 27.6 million smartphone units in Q3 2017 alone. This shows that Meizu has a lot of work to do if it hopes to be on par with the major players in the smartphone industry.

Xiaomi and Huawei released multiple flagships this year but Meizu managed to unveil only the Meizu Pro 7. This is one aspect that the company really need to work on to improve its revenue. There is currently a very high acceptance of flagship devices and more people are willing to part with huge cash for a high-performance smartphone thus Meizu will be at the losing end if it continues to focus on budget smartphones.
