Oneplus' 2017 incremental flagship- the OnePlus 5T doubles down on its biometric tech with its facial unlock and fingerprint features. While there were the feature to the , the company, unfortunately, didn't include that feature in the current update. However, we can now confirm to you that the
Oneplus 5 devices in a number of days would be getting the face unlock feature soon.
This was revealed on Twitter by Carl Pei - OnePlus co-founder who revealed that the device would soon get the feature due to popular demands. His exact words below;
"Due to popular demand, Face Unlock is coming for the OnePlus 5,". "Thanks for the feedback, and Merry Christmas!"
Recall that
OnePlus introduced the OnePlus 5T a couple of months back with a bezel-less design and a face unlock feature which uses the front-facing camera to analyze 100 identifiers of your face. The implementation here though faster is much simpler and less secure compared to
iPhone X face unlock feature.
We currently do not have a specific timeline when the Company intends to roll out the feature to the OnePlus 5, also we are not certain if there is any plan to bring the feature to older phones like the 3 or 3T.
