The rather attractive Umeox
X3 Android smartphone has recently received a
price drop suggesting a newer, faster
quad-core version of the
phone could be on the way.
The Umeox
X3 launched last year with dual-core MT6577
CPU, and received quite a lot of attention thanks to its high level of craftsmanship and 'arced' display. Originally priced at 1588 Yuan ($256) the
X3 has not dropped in price to just 1280 ($206) which has many
phone fans believe a
quad-core version is on the way.
Many Chinese phones receive a mid-life
update to the latest
CPU.
Zopo have
updated most of their dual-core range to quad and others are following, so it's just a matter of time before we see a
MT6589 equipped Umeox
X3.
Umeox phones will be available in Europe later this year under the Thomson brand, and the company had quite a presence at
MWC earlier this year, so keep an eye on them as they could be a dark horse!
