Xiaomi isn’t wasting time. Just a day after Qualcomm announced the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4, Redmi confirmed that the upcoming Note 15 Pro+ will be the first smartphone powered by the new chip. The device is set to debut tomorrow in China. This move gives Xiaomi an early lead in the crowded midrange segment, where performance gains often come down to being first with the latest silicon.

What We Know About the Hardware

The Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 will be paired with a 5,200mm² vapor chamber to manage heat during heavy loads. That’s a fairly large cooling system for a mid-tier phone, and it suggests Xiaomi expects users to push the chip hard—whether for gaming or multitasking.
Battery life should also be a talking point. The Note 15 Pro+ packs a massive 7,000mAh cell. Charging speeds reach 90W wired, while 22.5W reverse wired charging lets you top up smaller devices. Xiaomi says the battery can handle up to 1,600 full charge cycles, which, if true, would place it ahead of many competitors in long-term durability.

Display and Audio

On the front, the Note 15 Pro+ will carry a 6.83-inch display with 1.5K resolution. Peak local brightness reportedly hits 3,200 nits, which is an aggressive claim even by flagship standards. Protection comes from Xiaomi’s Dragon Crystal Glass, the company’s answer to Corning’s Gorilla Glass.

Audio also seems to be a focus. Redmi is promoting stereo speakers with what it calls a 400% volume mode, reaching a claimed 82.5dB loudness. Marketing exaggeration or not, it suggests Redmi is trying to differentiate the phone on multimedia.

Cameras

For photography, the Note 15 Pro+ will feature a 50MP OmniVision Light Hunter 800 sensor, paired with a telephoto lens offering 2.5x optical zoom. Redmi has shared sample shots on Weibo, though machine-translated captions make them a little difficult to judge. Still, the combination of a large primary sensor and actual optical zoom is notable for this price tier.

Why It Matters

The Redmi Note line has always been about pushing specs beyond its price point. The Note 15 Pro+ seems to continue that trend—big battery, fast charging, a bright display, and now the honor of being the first phone with Snapdragon’s latest midrange chip.
Of course, real-world performance and battery endurance will matter more than spec sheets. But if Xiaomi can deliver on these numbers, the Note 15 Pro+ could quickly set the bar for midrange Android phones heading into 2026.
